A Red Letter Day
Book design based on the vast collection of wartime diaries written by my Grandfather, Geoffrey Frank King during 1939–44. These diaries, written in an early version of Pitman's Shorthand1, document his life as a young journalist in Newark-on-Trent, his eventual enlistment in the British Military2 and his travels to North Africa during World War II
In an intimate format similar to the original diaries, the book chronologically juxtaposes GFK's journal entries and photographic materials with historical facts, diagrams and well-known imagery.
